From Dennis Sigler: Went up to Mt. Soledad veterans memorial today & took some photos for you to see with a little scope on the size, etc. Also visited some other plaques there of Eisenhower, Reagan, Jimmy Stewart and several other heroes of the past. On our plaque, I touched the names of Alton Shedd & Gary Lininger. I look forward to our official dedication in October. Stay well & proud brothers, Dennis

From Jim Cunningham: The 25th Division is having it’s reunion this year. Maybe you could put a note out for the guys on our association who were with the 25th. The dates are October 3-8 at the Hawaii Prince resort in Waikiki. More details to follow on 25th Infantry Division Association website. Some of the 69-70 guys are already making plans to attend.
Minneapolis, Minnesota will be the site of our next reunion in 2017. Terry Toomey is our reunion host. The date and place is yet to be determined. Stay tuned!
The Deceased page has obituaries (when available) of recently deceased members.

Jim Bindhammer (“Doc”) C/3/33 Medic 69-70 shared this riveting story of the battle and the day we lost Dale Erdman. At the end of the story Jim has a couple of questions he hopes someone out there can answer.

Jim Bridges (68-69) wants to share a very moving story about his experiences with Lt. Leo Mullen. You will want to read this. Please go to Heroes page 69-70
FOLLOW-UP on Jim Bridges' story (see above):
The posting my recollection of Jan 7 prompted Bill Schwindt to encourage me to call Lt Slater (Bob). We had a very nice conversation. He credits Sgt LaPrad with saving his life that day, something l didn't know. LaPrad was never attended a reunion either. Anyway Bob promised to be at next reunion. I've promised myself to make some more calls, to LaPrad and others. So nice string of circumstances. Food for thought if you been meaning to call a brother, you don't know where it might lead. I had always assumed Bob didn't want to be bothered, not so!
Dorshak memorial in Michigan City, IN. - From Chuck Boyle
Pat Shine and I rode up to Michigan City, IN for the Robert Dorshak memorial put on by the National Veterans Awareness Ride. We had a great time meeting all of the Dorshak family and the Bikers. They are a first class act. The family was overcome with joy that we showed up and that the Veteran's remembered them. It was a very beneficial visit for all of us.

The first pic is just the bikers; the second is of Ron Dorshak, older brother of Robert Dorshak (77); the third is the Vets again; and the last is the large memorial with the 33 KIA names from Michigan City. Imagine that, 33 Vietnam KIAs from that little town and one of them a MOH winner. Click on picture to enlarge.

Jim Dice sent these pictures of Glenn Nishizawa (KIA 5-31-68). They came from Glenn's sister who would like the ID of the guys in the hooch. Chuck Boyle, Ira Mersack, Dwight Read (Medic) Pat Shine, are all involved trying to help her out.

Let us know if you can identify any of the guys in the photo.

From Jim Dice: "Chuck Boyle knew Glenn saved my life on 14 Feb 68. He stopped my head wound bleeding, as I was very close to empty!"

Message from Chuck Boyle:
Pat Shine and I are thinking about writing a story, a more complete picture of Glenn Nishizawa based on his service to Charlie Company. In that regard, I am soliciting any memories of him, in writing, (email or otherwise) from anyone who knew him. Perhaps little vignettes or tales of their association with him.

I sent a letter and a copy of Absolution to Glenn Nishizawa’s sister, Lynn Hensley, who Magnet (Norm Nishikubo) met at his gravesite She replied within a few days and was deeply moved and ever so grateful to hear from me. She mentioned that the family had set up a scholarship fund in Glenn’s name in 1969, and have been awarding $1000. scholarships to deserving High School Seniors since that time.

So, the ball is rolling on this little episode, started by our brother in arms, Norman Nishikubo. (Ruben Sanchez found the cemetery and Don Snyder and Ruben found and photographed the gravesite for the NL and website).
